The Guild recognizes a special high-honor liaison role for Certified Master Bomb Technicians  who officially represent IGMBT to host-nation governments and national associations. These individuals shall be designated as Guild Ambassadors. The following criteria shall apply:

I. Official title

Guild Ambassador and Certified Master Bomb Technician – abbreviated “Amb-CMBT” in post-nominals

II. Purpose

Serve as the Guild’s accredited liaison to a specific host nation (or multilateral body), fostering mutual recognition of the CMBT credential, advising on standards, and coordinating official Guild visits, joint training, or incident-response cooperation.

III. Eligibility

• Current CMBT or Fellow in exemplary ethical standing.
• Minimum 10 years EOD experience and demonstrated diplomatic or multinational-program leadership.
• Native or resident familiarity with the host nation’s language, laws, and professional network.

IV. Nomination and appointment

• Candidate nominated by any two voting members or by the Guild President.
• Vetting by the Honors and Awards Committee for technical mastery and diplomatic suitability.
• Appointment requires a three-quarters majority vote of the Guild Council; no more than one Ambassador per country.

V. Term of service

Three-year renewable term, reviewed annually for activity and host-nation feedback. Council may revoke the designation for cause by two-thirds vote.

VI. Privileges

• Exempt from all annual dues during the appointment.
• Priority access to Guild travel funds when acting in an official liaison capacity.
• Seat (non-voting) on the International Relations Committee; may attend Council meetings in an advisory role.

VII. Core duties

• Represent IGMBT in formal communications with host-nation ministries, bomb-squad command structures, and professional bodies.
• Promote adoption or recognition of CMBT standards and advocate ethical best practice.
• Report quarterly to the Council on national regulatory changes, emerging threats, and partnership opportunities.
• Coordinate Guild participation in major exercises, conferences, or incident briefings within the host nation.

VII. Honor and insignia

• Receives a distinctive silver-and-blue “Ambassador” breast badge and lapel pin.
• Listed on the Guild’s public “Diplomatic Roll of Honor.”

VIII. Ambassador-at-Large and Certified Master Bomb Technician

An “Ambassador-At-Large” may be appointed by the Guild to serve at the highest liaison role, and is senior to country-specific Guild Ambassadors. The Ambassador-At-Large shall fulfill the following functions:

Ambassador at Large, Certified Master Bomb Technician — abbreviated “Amb(AL)-CMBT” in post-nominals

Represent IGMBT on a global scale when engagement extends beyond any single nation such as at multinational forums, UN or NATO working groups, international crisis-coordination missions, and global standards bodies. Functions as the Guild’s senior diplomatic envoy and mentor to country-specific Ambassadors.

  • Current CMBT or Fellow in exemplary standing.
  • 15+ years distinguished bomb disposal leadership, including documented multinational or intergovernmental contributions.
  • Demonstrated high-level diplomatic skill, multilingual ability desirable.
  • Previous service as Guild Ambassador or equivalent international liaison role.
  • Candidate nominated by any three Council members or by petition of ten voting members drawn from at least three countries.
  • Vetting by Honors and Awards Committee for technical mastery, ethical record, and diplomatic suitability.
  • Appointment requires a 80 % affirmative vote of the full Guild Council; limited to one living Ambassador at Large at any time.

Five-year renewable term, subject to an annual performance review and reaffirmation vote by simple Council majority. Council may revoke the designation for cause by two-thirds vote after due process.

  • Lifetime exemption from dues.
  • Priority access to Guild travel and representation funds.
  • Automatic seat (non-voting) on the Guild Council; may chair the International Relations Committee.
  • Authority to sign memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on the Guild’s behalf, subject to Council ratification.
  • Act as the primary IGMBT envoy to multinational organizations and international emergency task forces.
  • Mentor and coordinate the regional/country Ambassadors’ activities, ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Deliver high-level briefings to heads of agencies, ministerial committees, and global NGOs.
  • Provide quarterly strategic reports on international trends, regulatory developments, and partnership opportunities.
  • Awarded a distinctive gold-on-navy breast star and ceremonial sash; name engraved on the Guild’s “International Roll of Eminence.”
  • Entitled to preside at the annual Congress opening ceremony in the Director’s absence.
